Day 21 -- Move Air-Conditioning and Fetch Paint

SS came first thing this morning. He was scheduled to meet OO at 10am, but had his own schedule to look to and came early to deal with the problem. OO had rejiggered the stud so that there was room next to the air-conditioning hoses, and SS just bent them around the hole. The center point to the duct hole had been marked, and SS measured and marked the circumfrence. SS carefully cut the tape holding the three pieces, eased them over, and then taped them back together. I watch the whole thing because it's so interesting, and SS does such lovely work--and he wasn't in the attic. SS sees OO on his way out. Later, R marks the position of the hoses on the section of drywall he's replacing over it.

Also first thing, the guys are working on the casing for the dining room door. Re comes to do a few things, including adding an outlet in the garage. R and he look at it. He'll do that tomorrow. Today they test the perimeter lights. It's so much fun watching the dimmer. The fixures need to be raised in the housing, but otherwise they're great. I can't wait to see them with the sheathes. When the sheathes will come, I don't know! I go to the store with E and buy a bunch of pre-cut fruit. I don't usually like it but I just can't stand washing fruit in the powder room--though I get an early apricot and do wash that.

Day 22 -- Painting Starts

Not too much happening today. Painting. We're into the time during which we're waiting for the tile man. He's had a couple of delays. Otherwise, the crew would have been done already. OO and the crew shim up the big dining room armoire on cardboard so they can slide it and get to the wall to prep and paint it. At the end of the day, I see that the molding is on, on the kitchen side. I have to get myself together to go vote. At least I've been sleeping well, finally.

Day 23 -- Wall Paint--it's starting to look like a kitchen!

I miss OO today while I'm out doing errands and having lunch with E. All along it's been looking like a big empty space. The ceiling paint improved it, but the real transformation is the wall paint. I can't say exactly why it is, maybe just the intensity of the color, but it's starting to look like my kitchen! A little oops today when I see that the laundry room is painted ceiling color (the very old plan) rather than the stairwall color (the current plan). I tell R2 and he takes care of it. No biggie. :)

Day 24 -- Paint Color Problems

Paint. So today is a light day. R2 is here to do some finishing up. He paints the ceiling of the peak. He does a coat in the laundry room. We have some issues that come to light when we put samples on the light structure. The new sample pot of FPE #1 is much pinker than the first one. Okay. Let's try the white. Oops, my fault, I say to use the one in the laundry room, which is from the stairs. So then we do another of the woodwork white. I'm appalled. Both are very yellow. They're supposed to be white. I get the old cans out of the storeroom. It's especially clear now how off they are. So we do a test in the dining room. We'll see how they look when they're dry. The rest of the afternoon I hear some banging but I don't know what R2 is doing.
